Meet Andy, Brenda, Olive and Alby. They are watched over by a darling baby girl, their daughter, Zuzu.

Brenda and I crossed paths online through the most beautiful group of mothers you'll ever come across. Three years ago, when my husband and I lost our beautiful baby boy, Brenda reached out and I discovered she and Andy had said goodbye to their daughter in the same awful circumstances. It was in that moment - the moment she chose to reach out - that an incredible friendship was born. Since that moment, we have spent countless hours messaging and helping each other grieve, process and heal, and I am so blessed to have her.

Our little boy's due date was one of the hardest dates I've had to process. It had been four months since we'd held him in our arms, and yet the lead up to his due date felt like losing him all over again, consumed by the fact that we should be bringing him home. The comfort Brenda offered me, by being there, only a message away, listening to me pour out my heart and trusting me with the same in return, is something I will never take for granted.

After our little boy's due date, I gifted Brenda this session as a heartfelt thank you. We have each welcomed gorgeous baby boys since then, and so late last year we decided it was finally time to catch up, spend some time together in person and photograph Brenda's beautiful family. It was an absolute delight - Olive is so sweet and Alby is just delicious! And to see our four earth-side babies playing together was so wonderful, knowing our heavenly babies watched on, together, smiling.

Brenda once said to me that grief comes in waves, and those waves can catch you off guard when you least expect. Three years on and those waves still catch me, so I know she and I are going to be part of each other's journeys for a long while yet.
